Is there a minimum amount of debt I must owe before I can file bankruptcy?

I would just add that it never hurts to come in and discuss your situation with an attorney, most attorneys, including our firm here at John Rogers, Attorney at Law, do not charge a fee for the first meeting in the office, which can last up to 1 hour if needed.  Often there are issues that folks need to deal with very quickly, and if you will tell our staff the importance of these (law suits, garnishments for example) we make every effort to get you in for your appointment as soon as possible.
